Townsend & Associates, Inc. announces a new data
security application for the IBM iSeries and AS/400
platforms. Alliance AES/400 is a
data encryption and security application that helps
automate the protection of sensitive data in DB2
databases and reports. IBM iSeries and AS/400 customers
and software companies can rapidly achieve data security
compliance using Alliance AES/400.

The encryption in Alliance AES/400 implements the Advanced
Encryption Standard (AES) standard, an encryption
methodology adopted by the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) and published as
FIPS-197. Users of the new Alliance security software
deploy 256-bit AES encryption to secure sensitive data
in DB2
tables with field-level encryption, distribute data in
self-decrypting archives, and integrate strong
encryption technology into their line-of-business
applications. Existing
applications can be easily modified to implement
encryption with minimal or no change to the database.
The Alliance encryption software is designed to provide
strong security even when used with very small fields
such as PIN codes.
The Alliance Partner program
helps iSeries Independent Software Vendors (ISVs)
integrate encryption technologies into their packaged
solutions. The Alliance Partner program provides
technical resources for ISV developers and a convenient
method of distributing the technology to end customers.
