Alliance EDI Workbench/400
Alliance EDI Workbench/400 provides the EDI translation functions you need to create ANSI X.12 documents from your AS/400 data, and to import ANSI X.12 documents to your AS/400 database.  EDI Workbench/400 does not include communications support. If you need communications support there are several Alliance products that provide this.  When combined with an Alliance communications product you will have a complete EDI eCommerce solution.  [top]

FTP automation
Alliance FTP Manager provides an Enterprise solution for automating the transfer of database and spool files using FTP (File Transfer Protocol). FTP Manager can send EDI files to your trading partners, and can receive and automatically process EDI files you receive. You can communicate directly with trading partners over the Internet, a private TCP network, or dial PPP connection. Alliance FTP Manager can also exchange files with major value added networks such as IBM Global Network, AT&T Global Network, AllTel, GE, and other networks. FTP Manager also can send files to banks for credit card settlement, or to Western Union EasyPay for bill payment.   [top]

2780/3780 Bisynchronous (BSC) dial
Alliance BankLink/400 provides dial BSC communications to send and receive EDI files using your AS/400 ECS modem. You can send files to value added networks such as IBM Global Network, Sears, Sterling, Harbinger, and other networks. Alliance BankLink/400 can also receive inbound files and process them into your applications.  [top]

Electronic mail
If you need to send and receive EDI documents with electronic mail you can use the Alliance SMTP and POP client applications. If you are using Alliance FTP Manager you have APIs to send and receive email with attachments.  Or you can use Alliance NetSend to send email messages with MIME attachments. If you need to receive email messages you can use Alliance NetReceive to pull messages from a POP server. Alliance email APIs support all types of binary and text attachments and are fully compatible with Internet mail systems, AOL, and all mail servers.  [top]

TCP/IP Sockets
For real-time EDI processing you can use Alliance Series TCP/IP for sockets client and server applications. Alliance Series TCP/IP uses data queues to send and receive data. Your applications do not need to know how to do sockets communications. You can receive EDI data through the sockets interface, write the data to a file, and process the data into your business applications.  When sending data via TCP sockets Alliance will convert the data to ASCII and insure complete communications.   [top]

IBM Global Network Information Exchange Advantis
If you need to exchange EDI files with the IBM Global Network you can use Alliance FTP Manager for an FTP interface, or Alliance BankLink/400 for a dial BSC interface. In either case Alliance can send and receive files and automatically process them into your business applications.  If you need assistance setting up your IBM Global Network we can work with IBM to create the account and enable it for your trading partners.   [top]

AllTel
Alliance FTP Manager can communicate with AllTel PowerCell and other AllTel applications. FTP Manager contains APIs that can format file names that are compatible with AllTel’s MVS and AS/400 systems. For files received from AllTel, FTP Manager’s library scan facility can automatically translate EDI files and process them into your applications.   [top]

GE Information Services
For dial communications Alliance BankLink/400 provides a 2780/3780 BSC application to send and receive files. For network connections Alliance FTP Manager provides an FTP transfer interface. You can automate the sending and receiving of files with full archival and re-processing capabilities.  [top]

Western Union EasyPay
You can communicate with the Western Union EasyPay system with Alliance FTP Manager. FTP Manager can automate the transfer of payment information and can process received files into your applications.  [top]

Freddie Mac Goldcomms
Freddie Mac communicates using a TCP sockets interface called GoldComms. Alliance Series TCP/IP provides both 2-Way and 3-Way GoldComms communications, and implements GoldComm’s heartbeat transaction. You can receive EDI transactions and process translate them using EDI Workbench/400. Responses can be translated and returned to Freddie Mac via the GoldComms interface.  [top]

Credit Card Settlement
You can use Alliance FTP Manager to send settlement batches to your member bank after credit authorization.  Alliance FTP Manager provides a permanent history of settlement batches. You can also receive settlement reports using FTP Manager.  [top]

PGP Encryption
Alliance FTP Mana ger supports an optional PGP encryption component. This is a fully licensed, commercial version of PGP that runs as a native application for the AS/400.  You can encrypt EDI files (or any other type of file) on the AS/400 for transmission to remote sites using FTP.  You can also decrypt any PGP encrypted file on the AS/400 and process the file into your AS/400 applications.  The FTP Manager PGP option includes the ability to create and manage keys, import and export public keys, and report on PGP activity.  [top]

Virtual Private Networks (VPN)
For security you can create a Virtual Private Network between your AS/400 and another other system on the Internet or private network.  From V4R4 the AS/400 has supported the IPSec standard for VPN connectivity.  You can also implement VPN connections using your network router, gateway, or VPN gateway device. VPN connections are inexpensive and protect all traffic between two systems including FTP and Telnet connections.  [top]
