Automated
data distribution
Alliance FTP
Manager supports sending one or more files to multiple
remote sites using several methods. The Library
Scan function can detect the presence of one or more
files in a library and initiate the automated
distribution of files to a user-defined group of
remote sites. And APIs (Application Program
Interfaces) are provided to allow user applications to
initiate transfers to groups of remote sites. The
ability to group remote sites into named lists
provides a flexible and easy to manage method of data
transfer and is ideal for branch office and retail
environments.
Automated
software distribution
Alliance FTP
Manager can transfer save files to one or more remote
sites and supports the execution of user jobs that
restore programs and data. You can distribute save
files to one site at a time or you can define a group
of remote sites and process all of the sites in the
group. Software distribution is supported by the
Library Scan and APIs provided in the product.
Remote
site software requirements
No Alliance
software is required at the remote site. You only need
to have the FTP server active at the remote site to
support data and software distribution. If the remote
site is an AS/400 you have built-in support for
command execution to install files and/or software. If
the remote site is UNIX, NT or another type of system
you will need to activate the remote execution server
to support running programs to install software.
