Alliance SerialConnect

Alliance SerialConnect is a software and hardware solution that provides reliable, scalable, and manageable communications support for connecting serial devices to the AS/400. Serial RS-232 interfaces are available on a broad spectrum of hardware devices including scales, process control systems, time keeping systems, medial equipment, PCs, and many other devices. Alliance connects these devices to your AS/400 using an AS/400 Ethernet adapter and the TCP/IP protocol. The protocol converter provided by Alliance changes the serial communications to TCP/IP sockets for connection to the AS/400. Alliance manages the configuration of the serial interface, sending and receiving data, data conversion from EBCDIC to ASCII, and management and recovery functions. AS/400 programmers use data queues to exchange data with the serial device.
