Immediate Release
February
16, 2003 - Olympia, Washington.
Today Patrick Townsend & Associates
announced the release of Alliance XML/400, a new IBM
AS/400 and iSeries application that automates the
translation of XML data to and from DB2 relational
database formats. Alliance XML/400 converts standard
XML documents to DB2 databases without the need for
application programming. Alliance can also convert DB2
database files to XML documents.
An easy-to-use mapping application allows the
AS/400 user to associate XML data elements and
attributes with DB2 fields. Once a map has been
created the Alliance XML translation program converts
data between XML and DB2 formats.
All XML standards are supported including XML,
cXML, cbXML, ebXML, SOAP, and XML/EDI.
Alliance users can deploy affordable XML
applications on the AS/400 while maintaining their
investment in existing applications and technologies.
Patrick
Townsend, president of Patrick Townsend &
Associates, said “With Alliance XML/400 we set out
to make XML projects easy to accomplish without the
need for expensive translation tools or hard-to-find
programming talent.
With the Alliance solution an AS/400 customer
can use standard AS/400 dialogs or a web browser to
define the XML translation requirements. The Alliance
conversion engine takes over from there. With a
working knowledge of DB2 tables and
XML, an AS/400 user can accomplish the task
without complicated and time-consuming programming.
Alliance XML/400 provides a productivity boost for
AS/400 XML projects, reduces the time and cost of
delivery, and is affordable for even the very small
Enterprise.”
Alliance
XML/400 also provides communications support for the
transfer of XML documents.
Standard HTTP and secure HTTPS server
applications can be used to receive XML documents
without the need for special web applications such as
WebSphere and Apache.
Client HTTP and HTTPS web applications make it
easy for XML documents to be delivered over the
Internet or WAN directly to trading partners.
A file-based interface is also available for
non-traditional delivery methods.
Robbn
Miller, head of customer support says “Our customers
get very excited when they realize how fast they can
learn and use the product.
They often accomplish the first XML translation
within an hour of installing the product.
Alliance maximizes all of their AS/400 and DB2
skills and makes the project easy.
Alliance de-mystifies the world of XML on the
AS/400 and kicks their projects into high gear”.
Alliance
XML/400 is licensed on the basis of the AS/400
processor group, and one time license fees start at
$2,500 (US). Multiple system discounts are available.
Annual support, training, and contract project
services are available from Townsend and its partners.
